Match Diary

Thursday
No major suprises or upsets so far today, though three of the seeds had to work hard for their places in the quarter finals.

Susan Castley lost her second set to Clare Watson but then regained her composure to win 6/5 2/6 6/3. Catherine Walker played well and gave Alison Cockroft a shock by wining five games of their first set but despite some hard fought points Alison came through 6/5 6/3. Caroline Gilmore was also in fighting form and managed to take the first set from Prue McCahey, champion of the Australian Amateur Singles, but the result of their long match was a win for Prue 4/6 6/4 6/2.

Friday
A sunny day heralds the start of the Plate competition, where those who didn't fare so well yesterday get another chance to play at Seacourt. Click to see the draw.

Later on in the afternoon saw the return of the main contenders to the arena, where everything went pretty much as expected. So we line up for Saturday with the semi-finals going according to seeding.

The Weekend
Pictures and details of the last two day's play will appear here soon
